Persuasive Presentation History Project

Students in Mr. Kevin's period 3 History of Americas class had the opportunity to participate in a persuasive presentation project on the colonial regions of the U.S. over the last week. The students were grouped together to represent each region. Britain P., Levi G., and Jackson J were the Southern Colony's representatives. Nico B, Michael L, and Liam D represented the Middle Colonies. Gia V and Leo S were in charge of representing the New England Colonies. The project's aim was to persuade a prospective colonist (Mr. Kevin in this case) to settle in the group's region instead of one of the others. Each team collaborated to research their region and fill a graphic organizer with details to be used in creating a slideshow that supported the presentation.

Persuasive presentations were conducted in a debate format where the groups took turns introducing their region, giving several reasons why to choose their region, and defending against any argument from a competing colonial region group. Students were passionate in their delivery, questioning the validity and defense of the reasons given, yet were also respectful of each other. It was an all-around great experience for everyone involved, and we're proud of this class for the effort given!
