In Front of the Board Guest Journalist - Thomas Moore, Upper School Tuesday, August 25 I got to experience class from the teachers’ perspective. The day before class I found that our anatomy classes’ teacher Vaidehi Rallapalli was going to be absent from class in the morning and that we would have to postpone our activities until Thursdays’ class. Feeling I was familiar enough with the topic I volunteered myself to lead the class instead of postponing, and I did just that. Tuesday morning I retrieved the days’ handouts, the lab equipment, and the anatomy model with removable organs. I began the class by collecting the home work and notes that were due that day and passed out the new material. Then I led the class through the proper anatomical position and we all identified the different areas of the body. Our next activity involved the class dividing into pairs of two and molding a kidney out of clay and then cutting along ... Calling All Cheerleaders The practice season begins October 20th (Tuesdays and Thursdays after school)! Games begin in November and run through January. NOW is the time to email us if you are interested in joining our squad! We will be having an INFORMATIONAL MEETING/UNIFORM FITTING for students and parents on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm. Email to RSVP if you will be attending or if you want to join, but can not attend. No experience necessary. Just come out if you like to have fun and you have SPIRIT! Soccer News Our two time..., back-to-back..., AAC Championship Varsity Boys Soccer Team continued their winning ways on this past Tuesday, August 25th as we beat The Cottage School by a score or 3-2! What a game! Twenty-four strong..., coaches Michael Smith, Greg Bodeep, and Phil Hanson are keeping the pressure on the league and we are serving notice - the Mustangs are on the run again this season! The following day, the Middle School Soccer team also won their game with an awesome final score or 1-0! You guys are off to an terrific start! Go Mustangs! Public Open House Wednesday, September 9 9:00 - 11:00am Student Activity Center If you know someone that might benefit from attending MSA, please invite them to an Open House or better yet bring them! In case you haven't attended an Open House, it provides prospective parents with an overview of the school, a wonderful Fine Arts presentation, at least one parent and one student perspective, a tour of the school and an opportunity to speak with the principal. It's a great opportunity for them to get a feel for what we are all about. Word of mouth is by far the biggest way families find their way to Mill Springs and we know that you sometimes have the chance to be "Mill Springs on the Street", we thank you for sharing MSA! MSA Mini Day The PreUpper, Communication Arts and Upper Schools invite you to "MSA Mini Day" or "Come to School with Your Student Day" Friday, September 18, 8:30am - 1:00pm This is a wonderful opportunity to visit your student’s Community. To experience “MSA Mini Day”, you and your child will follow his/her schedule and attend his/her classes. You will meet your student’s teachers and see the classrooms, learn about each of his/her classes from curriculum to point sheets to grading, see artwork, and meet your student’s friends. At the end of the “mini day”, join your student for a complimentary lunch from the Arby’s, served on the U/PU/CA Green. Students whose parents are unable to attend will participate in classes as usual. Buses will run the regular morning and afternoon schedules. MUCH MORE INFORMATION TO COME!!
