Forgive Your Foe Friday

Today is Forgive Your Foe Friday. Well I'm no therapist or counselor, but this seems to be a good idea. First of all we carry all this emotion around with us like suitcases, that weighs you down. The more suitcases you haul around the harder it becomes! Instead of lugging that stuff with you everywhere, let it go! I know that is easier to say than do, but start with YOU, sometimes we are our biggest foe. Forgive yourself for that stupid mistake you made earlier today, or whatever it is you are carrying around in that suitcase with your name on it. Once you get out of your own way, you can begin to forgive others. As you do that you will notice your load getting lighter. As your load gets lighter, so does your spirit. Just think how good you will feel. It's also National Cherry Turnover Day - so forgive yourself for eating one of those while you are at it.  :)

I know we did staff vacation pictures last week, but I have one last one to share. Lisa Imsand and her husband Michael (pictured above) went to the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota with almost a million of their closest friends. Make sure you look over the vacation pictures that were shared by YOU within the News below!

In Front of the Board

Guest Journalist - Thomas Moore, Upper School

Tuesday, August 25 I got to experience class from the teachers’ perspective. The day before class I found that our anatomy classes’ teacher Vaidehi Rallapalli was going to be absent from class in the morning and that we would have to postpone our activities until Thursdays’ class. Feeling I was familiar enough with the topic I volunteered myself to lead the class instead of postponing, and I did just that. Tuesday morning I retrieved the days’ handouts, the lab equipment, and the anatomy model with removable organs. I began the class by collecting the home work and notes that were due that day and passed out the new material. Then I led the class through the proper anatomical position and we all identified the different areas of the body. Our next activity involved the class dividing into pairs of two and molding a kidney out of clay and then cutting along ... READ MORE

Public Open House

Wednesday, September 9

9:00 - 11:00am

Student Activity Center

If you know someone that might benefit from attending MSA, please invite them to an Open House or better yet bring them! In case you haven't attended an Open House, it provides prospective parents with an overview of the school, a wonderful Fine Arts presentation, at least one parent and one student perspective, a tour of the school and an opportunity to speak with the principal. It's a great opportunity for them to get a feel for what we are all about. Word of mouth is by far the biggest way families find their way to Mill Springs and we know that you sometimes have the chance to be "Mill Springs on the Street", we thank you for sharing MSA!

MSA Mini Day

The PreUpper, Communication Arts and Upper Schools invite you to

                                     "MSA Mini Day"

                                               or

"Come to School with Your Student Day"

                      Friday, September 18, 8:30am - 1:00pm

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit your student’s Community. To experience “MSA Mini Day”, you and your child will follow his/her schedule and attend his/her classes. You will meet your student’s teachers and see the classrooms, learn about each of his/her classes from curriculum to point sheets to grading, see artwork, and meet your student’s friends. At the end of the “mini day”, join your student for a complimentary lunch from the Arby’s, served on the U/PU/CA Green.

Students whose parents are unable to attend will participate in classes as usual.

Buses will run the regular morning and afternoon schedules.

                MUCH MORE INFORMATION TO COME!!
