Concepts (Thoughtful Answer Questions)
Know the following terms and be able to support
your explanation with examples from books you have read. Use your short story
packets for review.
Spelling (Fill in the blank) Review the “No Excuse” word list and your personal spelling list. Do something every day!! Focus heavily on the homonyms if you are still getting them confused. Go to www.edhelper.com if you need extra study activities. You will be able to enter your word list and print activities. Vocabulary (Multiple Choice) You will be using context clues, prefix/suffix meanings, and root word knowledge to select synonyms for words that you may not have seen before. The focus if this is figuring out new word meaning NOT the memorization of words. To prepare for this you may want to review your suffix/prefix handout, practice thinking about words, and try to discover new words with what you know. We will practice this more in class. Proofreading (Short answer) You will need to be able to read carefully and make punctuation and grammar corrections to a written work that I will provide. Review your formula for identifying a complete sentence and parts of speech (grammar). Practice correcting something that you or someone else has written. |
