World Cultures

     This is a two-semester course placing emphasis on developing the skills and knowledge of the various different geographical areas and associated cultures around the world. 

      The first semester provides students exposure to using geographical tools and resources to identify information relating to the cultural, historical, and physical characteristics of the many different geographical areas around the world.  During the first semester, we will explore the geographical regions and cultures of the four regions of Africa (East, West, North, and Central & Southern Africa). 

    The final exam for the fall semester will cover the four units of Africa:  East Africa, North Africa, West Africa, and Central & Southern AfricaStudents should study the unit exams, the physical maps and political maps for each area.  Students have been given already their completed unit exams and the maps they completed in class.  Click on the region above to get a blank copy of each unit exam.

 

     The second semester continues the exploration survey of Asia and the Middle East.  Students will continue to work toward achieving mastery of the 20 core social studies skills and will have the opportunity to use research sites from the internet and publications for integration of related information and data.
