Georgia History is approached as a survey course that will give students a
wide range of information regarding the state of Georgia. The fall
semester will explore the geography of Georgia as well as several different
eras and time periods relating to the history of Georgia beginning with
European Discovery of the New World. This class will also examine the
founding of Georgia, conflicts with Native Americans, slavery in Georgia,
the Civil War, and Reconstruction. The students will also learn about
many other areas of American and World History from Georgia's perspective.
During the course of the spring semester, the students will cover the New
South, Civil Rights, modern Georgia, and government at the local, state, and
federal levels. The students will also learn about many other areas of
American and World History from Georgia's perspective.
