The Winter Learning Program (WLP) is a hands-on, experiential learning program where students take a variety of interest-generated courses. This program, which lasts two weeks in January, is a learning enviornment in which students attend workshops, internships, week long seminars, and participate in "mobile classrooms" on topics such as SCUBA certification, "Where does your water go?", New York City or Los Angeles theater trips, "Dancing with the MSA Stars", traveling to the Galapagos Islands or out west through the Grand Canyon. We hold Writers Workshops, fossil digs and visit art studios. We study the science fiction films of the 1950s or Joseph Campbell and the Hero. Some hike the north Georgia mountains or build Sim City - Future Cities. Others may attend a cooking school or "So You Want to be a Rock Star". These activities vary each year. Students choose a class from the course outline/schedule, then they spend the week learning about their topic.
