Baseball

The Mustang Baseball Nine exploded for 7 runs in the first inning to defeat Hidden Lake Academy 11 - 1.  The contest was stopped in the 5th inning due to the ten run lead rule.  Max Holt  lead the attack with a single, a double and two triples.  Seth Brown crushed a towering home run that easily cleared the outfield fence.  Mitch McCollum added three hits to the 14 hit "Green Machine" attack.  Mark Shulte picked up the pitching victory with relief help from Arin Moylan.  The 8th grade duo held Hidden Lake to a miserly three hits.  MSA remains undefeated in league play and travels to Roswell Park Thursday to meet a tough Brandon Hall team.

MSA Girls’ Soccer—Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Full of spirit and Mustang enthusiasm, the Girls’ Soccer team took the field again yesterday vs. The Epstein School.  The girls continue to impress and inspire me as they uphold the MSA values of cooperation, enthusiasm, and leadership!

The defense worked hard and despite continual pressure from the Epstein offense, Lauren Dunlop, Jasmine Steinway, and Andrea Carlos (in her debut performance) showed relentless determination.  Additionally, Hanna Bowler provided another tremendous performance in the goal.  Her leadership and aggressiveness helped encourage her teammates throughout the game.

Once again, the Mustang mid-field of Cassie Kanelos and Nadia Bergeson played a key role in testing the Epstein School’s goalkeeper.  Cassie and Caleigh Moore pushed the ball up the Epstein sideline and nearly scored several times!!!

Samantha Cohen, Nadia, and Caleigh proved their toughness and versatility as they played almost every position at various times during the game.

Despite the disappointment of losing, the girls have maintained tremendously optimistic attitudes!  Their enthusiasm and perseverance perfectly demonstrate the courageous spirit of a Mill Springs Mustang!!!

Great Job Girls!
